ltd repress - trio ternura (or tenderness trio) consisted of two sisters, jussara, jurema and their brother robson. their father, umberto silva was a revered brazilian songwriter and recording artist who introduced his children to the music world at a very young age. after performing some songs on broadcast television and at festivals early on, their father umberto and brother, beto scala wrote a gira for the trio to record. the song is a tribute to nature, spirituality and mindfulness. the hommage is made through a form of cantico (chant) or saudação (salutation), aimed at invoking an orisha named oxossi. otherwise known as saints, orishas are the deities worshiped in the afro-brazilian religion of candomblé. african religion and culture have had an undeniable impact in brazil, especially in music and on artists with african roots as its rituals were often accompanied by music comprising highly percussive drumming. as a result, a gira, an homage to a candomblé deity recorded in 1973 involves mesmerizing polyrhythms from the very first few bars and throughout, followed by the sisters soaring vocals and impeccable instrumentation. its a song that they can really identify with, in their own words it has the dancing, the expression, the lyrics and musical relaxation - something very brazilian. originally released on polydor in brazil, fully licensed and remastered from the tapes - mel012 comes forth in its 7-inch original vinyl format and digitally, b/w trio ternuras stunning version of gato barbieris last tango in paris and is accompanied by the first bilingual melozine.

ltd repress! dominik eulberg’s second ep on his label apus apus features the track “roter gitterling“ (eng. basket stinkhorn / red cage) on the a side and „tintenfischpilz“ (engl. octopus stinkhorn / devil s fingers) on the flip side. a. roter gitterling the fleshy red cage of this kind of mushroom reminds of a merging of an upside down shopping string bag and an alien. not allowing any objection, the track strides forward with determination towards a musical interpretation of this strange being. a fulminant kick drum counteracts in a very prosaic way the bitter-sweet pads. in a very narrative fashion the track gathers speed and flocks diverse soundscapes and disembogues in a break of harmonical expanse. conciliatory and in a hedonistic way the bass drum eventually stitches together what belongs to each other. b. tintenfischpilz this bizarre looking extraterrestrial mushroom evokes at first glance the image of a dead octopus or radioactive vegetable. as in a science fiction movie four to six tentacles sprout and raise out of a common stinkhorn and later spread into a star shape look. in an unparalleled manner this stunning progression is executed musically by eulberg with a high degree of elaboration. all done with elegant blend of continuous progression and permanent change the track wreathes itself towards heaven, whereas fragmented melody artifacts pour into the shape of a miraculous emergence.

the two tracks on objekt #4 pay tribute to two of the many musical facets of basement q in its later years. a-side “needle and thread” aims to condense several hours of a thursday night in the basement into 9 minutes and 26 seconds, embellishing a hypnotic rolling techno backbone with hyper-detailed atmospherics, enchanting melodies and tight, strident breakbeats. b-side “theme from q” is hertz’s reinterpretation of a basement q anthem, owner and founder dj bogdan’s own “love inna basement (morning dub)”, which never saw an official release despite providing the soundtrack to over 20 years of late morning love-ins in the cellar underneath the sattler & söhne glue factory. together, the two tracks offer an incomplete but nonetheless seductive illustration of one of the most idiosyncratic and overlooked clubs in berlin’s recent history.
